On February 5th 2005, the New York City Department of Health in conjunction
with the Aaron Diamond Aids Research Center called a press conference and issued an urgent health alert to the public, especially
New York’s gay community. According to health officials, an individual had been infected with what appeared to be a
particularly potent new mutated strain of HIV/AIDS.
